Welcome to Ratebuddy Corp. We believe that managing your finances shouldn't require a law degree. We’ve written these terms to be transparent about how our comparison platform works, how we protect your privacy under Canadian law, and what your responsibilities are. By creating an account, browsing our rates, or submitting an inquiry, you agree to these terms in full.
1. We Are a Comparison Site, Not a Lender
Ratebuddy Corp is strictly an independent financial comparison platform. We provide loan options and rate comparisons to match your self-reported needs. We are not a bank, credit union, lender, or financial advisor.
We do not issue loans, underwrite files, or make credit decisions. Any financial agreement you ultimately enter into will be strictly between you and a third-party institution, governed exclusively by their own terms and conditions.
2. Ratebuddy Does Not Check Your Credit
Ratebuddy never performs credit checks. Submitting an inquiry or creating an account on our platform will have zero impact on your credit score. Our matching engine relies entirely on the estimated credit profile you provide.
Please note: If you choose to proceed with a loan option and connect with one of our matched lending partners, that specific lender will likely require a formal credit inquiry to finalize your quote and process your request. All rates shown on Ratebuddy are estimates; your official rate is determined by the lender.
3. Inquiries & Lead Sharing
When you submit a loan inquiry or request quotes for financial products through our platform, you provide explicit consent for Ratebuddy to act as a lead generator.
This means we will share your minimum required personal data as a lead (such as your contact details, income, and requested amount) securely with our network of lending partners and brokers so they can provide you with accurate quotes. By submitting an inquiry, you consent to Ratebuddy and our matched partners contacting you via email, SMS, or phone regarding your financial request.
4. Privacy & Data Management
We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and managing your personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy standards. We secure your data using industry-standard encryption. As a Ratebuddy user, we provide you with the tools to:
- Access Your Data: Request an export of the personal information we hold about you.
- Manage Your Footprint: Close your account and request the removal of your personal profile data from our active systems using the "Delete Account" feature in your dashboard.
- Control Communications: Opt out of marketing emails instantly via your dashboard.
For Quebec Residents: In accordance with Law 25, our designated Person in Charge of Personal Information (PCPI) oversees our data practices. To exercise your specific provincial rights, including data rectification or de-indexation, please email privacy@ratebuddy.ca.
5. Cookies & Analytics
We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies (including Google Analytics) to compile aggregate statistics about site usage, optimize your user experience, and deliver relevant advertisements. By using Ratebuddy, you consent to the use of these technologies. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may limit your ability to use certain features of the platform.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use the Website to: (a) submit fraudulent or fabricated inquiries; (b) scrape, data-mine, or harvest our rates and content using automated bots or software; (c) attempt to bypass our security measures or reverse-engineer our matching algorithms; or (d) impersonate any person or entity. Ratebuddy reserves the right to terminate your access and pursue legal action for any violation of these rules.
7. Compensation Disclosure
Ratebuddy is completely free for users to use. To keep our services free, we may receive compensation from the financial institutions and partners listed on our site. This compensation may be earned when you click on an ad, submit an inquiry, or are approved for a financial product. This compensation does not affect the actual rates or fees you are offered by the lender.
8. Legal Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
THE WEBSITE AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. RATEBUDDY CORP SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL REPRESENTATIONS, WARRANTIES, AND CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE RATES OR INFORMATION ON THIS SITE ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL RATEBUDDY CORP, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR PARTNERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE, RELIANCE ON ESTIMATED RATES, OR ANY TRANSACTION YOU ENTER INTO WITH A THIRD-PARTY LENDER. YOUR SOLE REMEDY FOR DISSATISFACTION WITH THE SERVICE IS TO STOP USING THE WEBSITE.
